You want to discover Paris ? UPEC Summer School has prepared 3 tours through which you will discover the most authentic aspect of Paris. You will visit famous districts and discover one aspect of French culture.

13th District from la “butte aux cailles”
The district described by Victor Hugo in his famous book Les Misérables to the French national library - François Mitterand, near wharf of Cité de la Mode et du Design where the International Contemporary Art Fair - FIAC 2014 occupied the wharf. The walls are still open to the public.
11th District
Discover the most famous Hipster areas: Oberkampf, Menilmontant and Belleville !
Graffiti workshop: Learn the basics of graffiti art: draw a line, make some lettering and handle colors. At the end, the artist will draw the sketch and you will fill it with colours!

Pompidou Center and Palais de Tokyo
In this circuit, you will visit The Centre Pompidou which it collection is the largest modern and contemporary art in Europe and The Palais de Tokyo, one of the largest sites devoted to contemporary creativity in Europe.

Through this circuit, explore famous or little-known parts of the city that were shot in classic or contemporary movies.
The Montmartre Hill
Strewn with staircases and charming lamps, Montmartre is very famous for the Sacré-Coeur Basilica and its fantastic panoramic view over Paris. Many movies have featured in this district, Classic ones like “Baisers volés”Directed by François Truffaut and contemporary ones like “La Môme” where Marion Cotillard played Edith Piaf or Amélie directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
The Canal Saint Martin
Located in the 10th and 11th districts, the Canal Saint Martin is a popular place of Paris. With 9 locks, footbridge, century trees and several popular restaurants and bars along it, the Canal is a popular destination for Parisians.
The Canal is shown in several films, classic ones like “Hôtel du Nord” directed by Marcel Carné and contemporary oneslike Woody Allen comedia, “Midnight in Paris”.
La Cité du cinema - Luc Besson’s studio
Dive into the universe of cinema at the heart of this former electric power plant transformed into a temple of the 7th Art by Luc Besson at the turn of the 20th century and meet a film critic who works at Le Monde newspaper.

In the 13th District, discover the largest Asian community in Europe. A sensorial trip where spices fills the air.
Aligre Market
Food markets are part of Parisian way of life. “Le marché d’aligre” is one of the famous covered market located in the 12th district. An occasion to discover this popular area.
Paris pastry and chocolate tour
Discover the most famous chocolatier and patissier from Opéra to Saint Germain des Prés. Opera is a district known for its Hausmannian redesign and the Palais Garnier opera house. Saint-Germain des Prés, home to a number of famous cafés, such as Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore, was the center of the existentialist movement (associated to Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir).
Cooking Workshop
At the end of this circuit, you will be initiated to French cooking during a workshop.
